Registration must include document uploads (cover page, abstract, references, and statement of originality). There will be a zero tolerance of late submissions.
All speakers must turn in a PRINTED, PAPER VERSION OF THEIR FULL TEXT SPEECH MANUSCRIPT before 3PM, including the cover page, abstract, full text manuscript, references, and statement of originality.
Schedule:
- Judges orientation 3pm
- Junior Prepared and extemporaneous speaking to start at 3:30pm. Potentially soil also - contingent upon space and number of entries.
- Secondary judges orientation for senior prepared speeches at 4pm in the Arena
- All other speaking events will start at 4:30pm.
Reminders:
All contests will follow state rules as listed on the Texas FFA website.
Uploaded documents should be submitted separately according to the following:
a. Submitted only in PDF Format
b. Documents should adhere to the following guidelines:
i. 1” margins on all sides
ii. 12 point Times New Roman font
iii. Follow APA style manual (latest edition)
Required State Materials Include:
- Manuscript (to include cover page with - Name, Chapter, Category, Event Date)
- Abstract (1 page or less double spaced)
- Complete references
- Statement of originality
- SWCB consultation affidavit form (for Soil Stewardship only)
Awards: 1st place (Plaque) 2nd-8th place (Pennant)
Jr Prepared Public Speaking: Two contestants from each district are eligible to participate in the area contest; top 2 advance to state
Sr Prepared Public Speaking: One from each district, in each division, for Sr. Prepared Speaking is eligible to compete at the area level. [Divisions: Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources, Agribusiness, Ag Policy, and Ag Tech/Communications]; 1st place in each division advances to state
Soil Stewardship Public Speaking: Two contestants per district are eligible to compete at the area level; top 2 advance to state
Extemporaneous Public Speaking: Two contestants from each district are eligible to participate in the area contest; top 2 advance to state
